Author’s Favorite Quotes from FAST FORWARD
“I guess this means we’re real parents now. Doing what we’re not supposed to do, feeling guilty about it, but doing it anyway.” - Josh to Cassie
Croslydon: Sometimes I use my characters to say out loud something I am thinking or experiencing. That’s one of those times. I have two little daughters…
“I don’t like people who have never fallen or stumbled. Their virtue is lifeless and it isn’t of much value. Life hasn’t revealed its beauty to them.”
Croslydon: I am cheating here: I didn’t write this. Boris Pasternak—a Russian poet and novelist—did. I chose that quote to start Fast Forward though. Both Cassie and Josh are flawed and—like in real life—they don’t get it right all the time. But I hope they are learning from their mistakes and grow.
“I don’t know if I had to give Lenor up. I only know that I never gave myself to her. I never gave myself to her because you had kept all of me and I never could let that go.” - Josh to Cassie
Croslydon: I guess that is what I would like to hear from the guy I love about his ex. What can I say? I don’t like sharing ;-)
“If my stomach were Irish, it’d be dancing a jig right now.” - Cassie
Croslydon: Cassie about stage fright.
“You are worth fighting for. You are worth dying for. And you are certainly worth living for. I’ll go after anything or anyone standing between us like a fucking Rottweiler.” - Josh to Cassie
Croslydon: Sigh…
“Because you shouldn’t have to sacrifice who you are to love me.” - Josh to Cassie
Croslydon: Cassie and Josh are twenty-four. They have their own dreams. For Cassie, it’s music: singing and song-writing. Her dreams as a musician don’t necessarily make easy her role as a mother and a wife. What I absolutely love about Josh in this book is how he does everything he can to support Cassie and make sure her own aspirations are fulfilled.
